in tents

here's vacation dad:
"clean all this stuff so we can
make it dirty later."

Now I have to go wash off the fifth-wheel so we can go drive it through dirt in the mountains. As long as wax isn't involved. This trailer is...too big for a family of three. 40 feet long, I think it is. I suppose it falls under the same category as making your bed every day.

And I'm getting a talking to for writing instead of working.

I suppose it's time to go.

e-mail wizard

i have too many
and they are all too old to
bother with right now.

Yeah, I'm on summer vacation. But I can't be bothered for just anything. I'm checking my e-mail. If it involves fines and fees and checks and money matters, I might look at it. If not, probably not.

But I'm helping a friend write a book, and that's another thing I can be bothered with:

Book-writing
Money matters
Aaron
Long-lost friends

That's really all, I think.

Not everyone can be a Rhodes Scholar.

I win at some things
but my GPA looks low.
I guess it's payback.

I got my transcript back from Oxford. Out of the four courses, I got all A's. Two straight, two minuses.
I win at this game.

If only I would have known how easily they grade. Oh, well. They probably would have graded harder if we weren't sissy American students.

Bill Clinton, you scholarly bastard, you.

my eyes are burning

my eyes are burning
we drove a dusty pick-up
with one window down

Today Mum and I went garage-saling. We tried to go estate-saling, but all the estates we had wanted to go to were hiding. You would think they would be larger, and more prominent, but the garages in Hanford kept multiplying, and before long we were surrounded. But we only found one or two garage sales that made it worth the trip. So, I bought 3 Frank Sinatra CDs, a swing CD and a Big Band compilation CD--all for $2.

That made it worth it.

And then we got donuts.

while a haiku a day...

a haiku a day
can't keep the doctor away
..sometimes tastier [than an apple]
