sentimental--
it makes us remember good
and excuse the bad

So, I've become [home]sick for Oxford again. I keep trying to recall the really horrible things about it, like the late nights, the all-nighters every Thursday, the rain, and then I'm out.

I would like to go back, and have a sort of reunion. Sing every Sunday night again at the Anglican church service. Pub-crawl.

But I'm home in California for the summer, working on a dairy.

At least life isn't static.
But I do miss Oxford so.

(re Oxford nostalgia):

humans and dogs both
see the door's other side as
most preferred status . . . :?)

(written last night on the CarpDeck)

a single firefly
touched the citronella flame---
a brief wisp of smoke

(there's a 5k race
by the way called the Firefly 5
Thursday August 13)

nine gold finches burst
out from purple prairie blooms---
morning trail fireworks

bifocals are lost---
small print, late evening light
frustrate my reading
